This is the first book of music from the New Music Project.  All pieces are newly composed, and are designed to be taught and sung without the use of congregational books. 

The collected music is appropriate for evening worship and addresses themes of Light, Water, Word, Prayer. There are selections of service music for Holy, holy, holy Lord; Lord, have mercy; O gracious light; Christ has died; Lamb of God; Our Father in heaven; We praise you, we bless you; Dying, you destroyed our death; The bread which we break; and more! Other texts come from the psalms, Celtic and Chinese chant, Carmina Gadelica, early Christian sources, contemporary poets and hymnwriters. Songs are in the style of music from Africa, Ireland, Israel, Scotland, America. Musical forms include rounds, call and response, part-singing, and unison melodies. Composers are all working musicians from around the United States. All have been successfully tested in a congregation for accessibility.

The text includes clear teaching notes and helpful suggestions for the most successful learning. Eighty-five different selections from twenty-one composers. Opening essays by Emily Scott, New Music Project Director and Director of Worship, Riverside Church, New York, NY and by Donald Schell, Consultant and Creative Director of All Saints Company.
