Becoming Confident Song Leaders Together

Local leaders and practitioners of ‘paperless music,’ who learn by ear and sing by heart, will develop their practice in this mini-workshop. Seasoned participants will lead music they’ve shared in their congregations or teach the group new pieces they’re working on. First-time participants will discover how the singing we do and creativity we discover in imitation of a leader shapes community as the leader lines out a call and response, a round, or a layered song. We’ll also invite first-time participants to lead the group in song and get coaching. In coaching one another we’ll offer encouraging feedback and from beginning to end we look forward to the pleasure of an evening of singing that flows naturally into a sung evensong, gathering up music we’ve work-shopped together for future use.
This and future local workshops extends All Saints Company’s ongoing work of revitalizing the music of the church and other music making communities through deliberate renewal and rediscovery of ancient and traditional means of music making. By bringing together ‘paperless music’ leaders from the area we are hoping this will be an evening of joyful singing and of finding our way to sing the Lord’s song wherever we are!
